6 new gTLDs applications withdrawn for .HEART, .STROKE, .BUY, .GUARDIAN, etc.

This past week 6 more new gTLDs applications were withdrawn and their status was updated at the ICANN New gTLD website. These 6 withdrawn applications bring the total of withdrawn gTLD applications to 39.

The American Heart Association, Inc. from the US withdrew it’s applications for the .HEART and .STROKE new gTLD strings. The strings received a Prioritization Number of 1182 and 395 on the prioritization draw last December. The company doesn’t have any more new gTLD applications. There are no more applicants for the 2 new gTLD strings.

L’Oréal from France withdrew it’s IDN application for the .欧莱雅 new gTLD string. The string received a Prioritization Number of 72 on the prioritization draw last December. The company has 13 more new gTLD applications.

PVT Registry, LLC from the US withdrew its application for the BUY string. The application received a Prioritization Number of 143 on the prioritization draw last December. Dot App LLC has no more new gTLD applications pending. There are 4 more applicants for the .BUY new gTLD string, including Amazon, Google and Donuts.

Guardian News and Media Limited from the Great Britain withdrew its application for the GUARDIAN string. The application received a Prioritization Number of 1437 on the prioritization draw last December. Guardian News and Media Limited has 2 more new gTLD applications pending for OBSERVER and THEGUARDIAN. There are 1 more applicant, The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, for the .GUARDIAN new gTLD string.

Bridgestone Corporation from Japan withdrew its application for the 普利司通 IDN string. The application received a Prioritization Number of 1769 on the prioritization draw last December. Bridgestone Corporation has 2 more new gTLD applications pending.

The applicants that withdraw an application are eligible for a 70% refund of the application fees to ICANN. Each withdrawn application, is entitled to a refund of 70% of the $185,000 application fee that is or $130,000, since these fall “[a]fter posting of applications until posting of Initial Evaluation results,” as described in section 1.5.1 of the Applicant Guidebook.

The new gTLD application withdrawal and refund request process may take between 2-4 weeks to complete.
