Pay your fucking bills!

I see a lot of people lately that are looking for an excuse to not pay their bills on time. (or ever?)

And I am not talking about people that have lost their jobs or income due to the coronavirus pandemic. Yes, there are a lot of people that have or will soon have serious economic problems because of the current global economy. I am not talking about them.

I am talking what can make this situation even worse for everyone.

I am talking about people or businesses that use this situation as an excuse to not pay their bills or debt on time EVEN though their have no cash flow problem now or in the foreseeable future.

Don’t be the asshole with the mansion that doesn’t pay his/her debt to the house cleaners or gardeners just because their are not using them temporarily. (Some people suggest that those who can should keep paying them but of course you can can’t force anyone to do that.) If you owe them money from last month then pay up your debt!

If you have millions in the bank than please keep paying your bills. If you don’t then this will create even further (unneeded) problems to the economy. Small businesses and independent professionals depend on these small payments to keep afloat and to not go out of business. Not yet anyway… As long as we can delay an economic crash the better. Don’t create an artificial cash flow problem to the economy.

So pay what you owe to your plumber or electrician. Pick up your dry-cleaning and settle your bill. Pay your physician/shrink his/her bill. Pay your accountant, web designer, app developer or your virtual assistant, and so on…

I am not even talking about how you can keep using as many people and services you can. If you can… You can keep using your contractors doing work to your vacation home, your can see your shrink via Skype, etc.

A guy that is buying a domain name from me with installments send me a text message and asked me to pause installments until June. I said a firm NO. I know he has money and delaying the payments will not change a damn thing to him. But it will make a change to me that I keep paying for domain renewals, hosting and various other online services.  I didn’t appreciate him asking. I think he tried to take advantage of this situation.

I don’t owe any money to anyone and always try not to. I have not asked from anyone to delay payments and I won’t until I have a serious problem.

So pay your fucking bills and stop making excuses just to play smart. If you have a few million in the bank then spending $200 today will not make any difference to you but it can make a difference to others.

  1. Totally agree with you, if the client is super rich , s/he has to pay!!

Since you still own the domain , why don’t you just change the DNS for not paying?

  2. Question:

Why do you use the word “fucking” so often?

If you’re trying to get a point across, the only thing you’re doing is showing a lack of class.

    Just my humble opinion.

PS: Otherwise, I do appreciate the information you’re providing us with. I know you put in a lot of hours doing so. Thanks.

Twice per year is often? Actually closer to 5-6 times in 7+ years.

Sometimes you need to get the attention of people.

  3. Agreed, could not be said better. We all can do what we can to keep this economy going. Now is not the time to follow the follower.

  4. It’s amazing how people view things in a relative way.. One thing that REALLY annoys me..I won’t say who but im sure there are LOTS of people like this. They ALWAYS complain about having ‘no money’.

They made 100k+ a year, worked hard to earn that much. Retired with pension. Now receive 50k a year. Own their house, 6 cars and well, a lot of the garbage no one really knows… Yet, this person complains about being ‘broke’ all the time.

It’s sad really. A lot in the boomer generation have no idea what it is like to be BROKE, because they had plentiful fiat money, RELATIVELY easy money given out in a RIGGED system. NOW the rigged system is failing, and they are the ones that a feeling ‘BROKE’ and complain about it. Give me a break!

Thanks for selling us out to chinese/bankers in order to enrich politicians and the capitalist oligarchs GUYS! You accepted ‘bribes’ and ‘lies’ You didn’t speak up and cause them ANY problems. Hope you had a nice life, anyways spare me the ‘im broke’, at least.

(not everyone, but im sure MANY know SOMEONE like this)

    • The whole idea of, “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” is flawed. Some people need a dose of TRUTH. They are free to SPEW lies which are then protected by their handlers, their pimps.

Namepros is a prime example. Since rob took over, lies and deceptions are RAMPANT on the forum. You’re not allowed to stand up and tell them firmly, what an EVIL pos THEY are for being part of the problem. The problem is EVERYWHERE TOO.

Yet Rob lives by a double standard, he does one thing himself, but treats those whom disagree with him or his ways another.

You are allowed to have an opinion, UNLESS it conflicts with HIS. This is called PROPAGANDA. And if you don’t stand up and tell them what an evil lying sack of SHIT they are, someday the propaganda becomes known as TRUTH. Communism 101. Rob is pure evil. He feigns ‘godly’, but his actions are manipulative and flawed. He is scamming in your face, ‘forever registration’, for an example…

Oh Icarus, you fly too high! *doesn’t listen* “you’re banned! Be nice, so we can lie in peace!”

99 year ban…what a loser! Cross the name out idiots, 99 years ban…what a condescending JOKE. GET REAL. REALITY CHECK. FAKE believer, he is.

  5. You got me laughing Konstatinos.I paid my gardener and would pay next month as well for services rendered. If i wanted to stop paying then i halt services before he begins.Dont make an offer to purchase a domain if cant continue paying upfront or if the unexpected happens.Buyers should be prepared.

  6. Amen.

Along the same lines, it is also extremely outrageous that a big company like Cheesecake Factory has declared it is not paying its rent bills for April at all its locations. That company has access to plenty of money and can easily continue to pay its bills.

Do you think mom and pop and smaller businesses can just up and declare they won’t pay their rent bill and not be in danger of getting evicted? No.

If you can afford it, Pay your bills!

You’ll only embarrass yourselves and make it harder for everyone else if you don’t.

  7. Couldn’t agree more Konstantinos. Even though I’m working from home now, since I’m fortunate enough to continue drawing a salary I’ll continue to pay the dog walker their regular fee without asking them to come to the house and risk contagion. Most of my neighbors are doing the same.

    • Paying the dog walker? In Moscow, people are willing to pay to “rent a dog”, because walking a dog is an allowed excuse to have a walk…

  8. The wealthy are the tightest people I know, two of my uncles were wealthy, one would never do what you suggest, he donated all his profits to leukemia research.

The other would screw his own to make money.

Any economy needs grease to keep it moving, so pay your bills because there is a domino effect, that person you pay will pay the people they owe, they may keep on an employee, who may be married to a health worker who may save your life.

By paying your bills you make a difference to other people’s lives.

Konstantinos I can only hope that your installment agreement has penalty clauses for non-payment, either loss of payments to date and a forfeit of the domain or very high interest charges.

In one of my first businesses I added a 39.9% per annum charge for credit on all invoices with a deduction if paid within 7 days, 14 days and 21 days.

I was rigid on this, I made sure every customer was given and signed a terms of service.

At the end of the month I would issue a statement with a new charge for the next month’s credit.

This usually caught their notice but for some it was by month 3 they would casually pay the original amount with deduction. I chased them for the interest, with no exceptions.

Pretty soon everyone was paying their bills on time.

The worst non payer was a merchant bank, they ended up paying 1700 in interest.

We are all in this shit together, I have massive sympathy for those who have lost their income, I would say to them ask for payment holidays from banks, credit card companies etc and the same for your energy supplier. Get rid of any costs you can, or negotiate a cheaper plan. You will then be at the level where the poorer members of our society are, and they get by every day on this.

Whilst writing, who can tell me a good earnings multiplier for selling domains.

If I have domains that I can show making $3000 a month, how much can I sell them for?

In some business it is 16x but I was wondering if there is one used in domain market?

    • Konstantinos Zournas

Domain parking you mean? Maybe you can get 12x depending on the domain.

      Developed websites are different.

My buyer finally paid on the last day like he always does.
