Google releases a broad core algorithm update

Google announced that it released a broad core algorithm update, as they do several times per year. It is called the September 2019 Core Update.

The September 2019 Core Update is now live and will be rolling out across our various data centers over the coming days.

Several times a year, Google makes significant, broad changes to its search algorithms and systems. They refer to these as “core updates.” These changes are designed to improve the search results and may affect your website ranking.

Google confirms broad core updates because they typically produce some widely notable effects. Some sites may note drops or gains during them. Those with sites that experience drops will be looking for a fix, and be careful you don’t try to fix the wrong things. Moreover, there might not be anything to fix at all.

Pages that drop after a core update don’t have anything wrong to fix. This said, those who do less well after a core update change may still feel they need to do something. Your website should focus on ensuring you’re offering the best content you can. That’s what Google algorithms (supposedly) seek to reward.
