Google’s Matt Cutts: “Old Domains vs New Domains” in Google Ranking

Matt Cutts, head of the webspam team at Google, made a video reply to a question submitted at Google Webmaster Help.

The question was:
“I have been in business for over 14 years with my domain, and see much newer domains passing me. Any algorithms to protect older domains/sites in business from newer sites with more spam?

Matt Cutts’s advise is to update your older domain/website. Don’t keep coasting. You should update your web design template, layout and keep evolving because newer domains with more edgy content will surpass you.
