Mike Mann sells 7 domains in September for $146,552 (DollarCity[.]com, BuyPods[.]com, etc.)

Mike Mann reported selling 7 domain names in September for a total of $146,552. Prices started at $1,000 and went up to $90,000.

Mike Mann sold 5 .com domains, 1 .org and 1 .co. The average reported domain sales price was $20,936.

Seems like the $9,888 price is a sweet spot for Mike as he sold 4 domains at that exact price.

Here is a look at some of Mike Mann’s domain sales and acquisitions from September 2018.

Domain name sales:

DollarCity.com $90,000. Purch 3/19/07 $1500. (Read all the details about this sale here.)

Domain name purchases:

Mike Mann is the owner of DomainMarket.com that offers more than 300,000 premium domain names for sale. Mike sells more domains as he is only reporting what he wants to report. Yes, his overall sales average is below $5,000 so the reported average means that there were quite a few not reported sales for less than $5,000.

I hope there is not someone that thinks that these are all the domains that Mike sold this month. These are just the domains that he chose to report. Also he is purchasing hundreds of domains each month yet he reports only 1 or 2 or not at all. If people were selling only what they were reporting then I wouldn’t have any sales this year!

(One thing to remember is that Mike Mann needs to sell about $2.5+ million worth of domains per year to break even and that he is NOT a flipper. The average holding time for his sold domains is usually more than 5 years.)

  1. DollarCity.com $90,000. Great news for my buck$$.com

  2. On July 19 OnlineDomain reported Mike Mann’s sale of KBSR.com for $24,888:

    https://onlinedomain.com/2018/07/19/domain-name-news/mike-mann-sells-7-domains-in-june-for-113664-humanability-com-viago-com-etc/

Three months later, the domain still points to a Godaddy parking page and if you attempt to directly register it, Godaddy says the name is available. The price I see is $35,068.34 AUD – which converts to 24,851.49 USD, in other words, for pretty much the same price.

The reason I investigated this was to find out why someone would pay so much for a CHiP. Without success.

This comment doesn’t prove that the domain wasn’t sold, it merely highlights this case because the accuracy of sales reports is very important.

The domain was at Enom and then moved to GoDaddy behind privacy. It also changed nameservers.
I have checked many domains sold by Mike and all had some kind of owner, registrar or nameserver change.
If you search for the domain at the DomainMarket.com it says “Your search produced no results. Please try again using the textbox at the top of the page.”.

      • Thanks for the clarification Konstantinos, but if the domain has a new owner and they have gone to the trouble of transferring it and changing the nameservers, it seems strange that they didn’t also check and remove the listed price at Godaddy. Assuming it somehow remained by default.

In similar cases (see following comment) prices have been changed. Somebody had to manually change the prices.

Godaddy won’t be happy if domains listed as “available” on their platform are in fact not.

It will be interesting to check the status of KBSR and other domains next year, time will tell.

Check what and where? The domain is listed in Mike’s account and he hasn’t removed it after the sale.
Buyers don’t know about GoDaddy domain listings, etc.

      • “Check what and where?”

I just mean to check whether the domains are developed after a year or so. $25K for KBSR is an end user price, not an investor price. It would be strange to pay so much and not do something with the asset.

To be fair, three of the seven domains from the July report are developed, as you would expect for end user priced sales after a period of time.

“I have checked many domains sold by Mike and all had some kind of owner, registrar or nameserver change.”

It’s appreciated that you take great effort to verify the accuracy of OnlineDomain reports Konstantinos. Thanks.

  3. Two more names from the July sales report I mentioned in an earlier comment are also listed as being available for sale on Godaddy.

    TheRitual.com. (sold $18,000).
Now available at Godaddy for USD 29,866.71 (converted from AUD)
    Probably $29,888.

    Capeline.com. (sold $32,000).
Now available at Godaddy for USD 39,836.31 (converted)
    Probably $39,888.

It’s hard to imagine someone would buy Capeline at such a high enduser price, then hope to flip it for a not much higher price.

    • Konstantinos Zournas

These are not listed by the new owners. These are old listings from Mike.
He negotiated on his platform and sold them below his original price that remained at GoDaddy.
Nobody changed the price after the sale.

  4. Nice, how can we approach this guy to ask for domain sales?

  6. Mike Mann,

Know the chemical X that others don’t know about.
How he sell these domains for so, high are they private sell or auction place. I don’t think so, that Acution places can generate big numbers?

    What do you think
