the.org sells for $6,800 at Namejet

I wrote the other day about the domain name the.org that was on auction at Namejet. The auction ended today and the.org sold for $6,800. There were 226 bids from 211 bidders in the auction.

The domain sold at Sedo for $9,999 in January 2011 and about a month ago it expired and was auctioned off by Namejet. Maybe the same buyer would like to buy it again for $9,999!That would leave the winning bidder with a $1,699 profit. (after the 15% Sedo fee)

I wouldn’t have paid as high as $6,800 to buy it but I certainly wouldn’t have sold it for $9,999. I think this domain is worth at least mid 5 figures.  I am sure the Sedo buyer will regret not renewing this domain name.
