.blog domains

The .blog registry, Knock Knock WHOIS There, shared some stats about the quality of the New gTLD extension.

Knock Knock WHOIS There, LLC is a subsidiary of Automattic, the parent company of WordPress.com and Jetpack. It was created in 2015 to manage the launch and development of the .blog gTLD.

Here are the shared stats:

  1. High Renewal Rate over 74%
  2. High Usage Rate over 65%
  3. High Attachment Rates of over 85% to paid services
  4. Low Abuse Rate at less than a 0.02%

They didn’t say how they came up with the numbers on points 2, 3 and 4.

Here are some additional stats I was able to find:

According to NameStat.org .blog has 185,494 domains registered today. It appears that the .blog extension growth stopped in the summer of 2019. 103,788 (56%) of these domains are registered with the Automattic Inc. registrar.

.Blog domains renew at about $20-$30+ depending on the registrar.

According to Sold.Domains and Namebio there have been only 6 .blog 4-figure domain sales and only 1 since 2017.
