.Berlin Offering Free Domain Names This Week

Following the .berlin launch, the registry is offering for a limited period from June 16 – 20, .BERLIN domain names that can be registered for free in some registrars. Registrars choose their pricing but the maximum price is set at 5,55 Euro.

.Berlin is ranked number 3 between New gTLDs in terms of domain name registrations with 49,229 domain names. It is behind .club and .guru.

This offer is only valid for new 1-year registrations, with the second and subsequent years the regular price applies. Prices vary across different registrars: 101domain.com sells them at $4,99 while .berlin domains are free or close to free at internetx.de and domaindiscount24.com. Click here to see pricing.

One of the whois contacts must be a resident of Berlin and provide a valid postal address in Berlin.

Some registrars such as DomainDiscount24 offer a trustee service for .BERLIN applications and registrations. By using the trustee service, the trustee replaces the tech contact. (At DD24 the usage of the trustee service is free of charge in the first year. Only from the second year of registration / with the renewal of the domain name we will charge a trustee fee of 2.50 EUR / 2.98 EUR incl. VAT per year per domain.)
