Torrents.com sold for 84,700 EUR at Sedo and bought by Spanish P2P company

The domain name Torrents.com was sold today for 84,700 EUR at Sedo.

The owner was a Spanish company that had registered the domain name in 1998. The company is named Industrias Torents S.A. and is making bakery and confectionery machines and equipment.

The buyer is Peter Gordon Blue, S.L. that is also located in Spain. The domain name Torrents.com is currently parked at CASHPARKING.COM. The company develops a peer to peer protocol, MP2P, that is used by it’s music file sharing software Manolito.

A torrent file is a computer file that contains metadata about files and folders to be distributed, and usually also a list of the network locations of trackers, and is used in P2P downloads of music, movies and software.

A few years back I send a few email to the company asking them to buy the domain name but never got a reply. That was at the time when torrents were not so well known. I thought I could get a bargain but maybe the company wasn’t ready to sell at that time. Now, I am not sure if the company still exists and if it does what domain name it is using.
