CentralNic secures contract to 14 New gTLDs, .sk acquisition has been delayed

CentralNic has agreed with Germany’s KSregistry GmbH for CentralNic’s wholesale division to provide its services for 14 Top-Level Domain extensions currently managed by Open Registry, which KSregistry acquired from Group NCC in 2017.

Under the terms of the deal with KSregistry, CentralNic will increase the number of new Top-Level Domains for which it is the Registry management platform to 65, with TLD clients spread across four continents.

Ben Crawford, CEO at CentralNic said “I am delighted to agree this deal with KSregistry, whose owners are among Europe’s most successful experts in the domain name industry.”

“CentralNic’s registry platform is the most advanced and feature rich in the world.  Coupled with KSregistry’s unmatched management and customer service means that we can provide current and future TLD registry clients with the very best technology, experience and support at competitive pricing,” said Alexander Siffrin, CEO at KSregistry.

CentralNic also announced that due to complexities in legal processes, its acquisition of the business and assets of SK-NIC, the manager of the exclusive country code top-level domain for Slovakia, .sk, is now expected to complete in November.  The acquisition was detailed in an announcement dated 25 August 2017.

Not sure if there are any complications in connection with this: CentralNIC acquires Slovakia’s Top-Level Domain .SK for about €26 million but Slovaks are not happy

  1. Complications are most likely related to recently proposed Cyber-Security Bill, which defines that .SK should be operated by Deputy Prime Minister office and backed by National Security Bureau of Slovakia:

Another possibility could be, that complications are related to ICANN Stealth Redelegation evaluation:

This deal is shady enough not only to be postponed, but to be canceled altogether.
