More than 1,000 premium domain names, among them jackpot.vegas, doctor.vegas and golf.vegas, were recently released for public availability.
This exclusive list is held by Dot Vegas, Inc., the registry operator of .vegas, and includes names from key market segments. Sales by Dot Vegas for premium names has already topped $2 million.
And, given the worldwide appeal of the Las Vegas brand, Dot Vegas, Inc. will now accept Bitcoin, an internationally accepted digital currency, as payment for registration of these premium names.
On September 15, 2014 the new top-level domain, .vegas, became available to anyone, anywhere in the world. In the short time since, more than 12,000 new .vegas websites originating from 35 different countries including the United States have been registered. However, this does not mean all of the valuable names are gone.
“Registrations for .vegas domain names are coming in from countries around the world,” said Dusty Trevino chief financial officer of Dot Vegas, Inc. “Since we are able to sell these registry withheld names directly to buyers, adding Bitcoin as a payment option streamlines the purchase process for many, especially international registrants.”
The price points for the registry withheld names vary according to industry and Internet demand. For example, there are several .vegas names available clustered around the word wedding, a business that generates $500 million annually in Nevada. As expected, weddings.vegas is among the higher valued names.
“Imagine couples who plan to travel to Las Vegas to marry. A quick search on weddings.vegas could provide everything they need for their wedding in one resourceful website. Typically, top-level domain names that are broad and general in nature are considered more valuable because they embody popular search terms and may provide links to a wide range of services and products.”
