He will lead the organization as it continues to develop its core registry business, explores the potential of new technologies, and plays its part in ensuring the internet fulfills its potential as a force for good.

Commenting on his arrival, Russell said: “Nominet has earned its place as a leading registry, a contributor to the wider domain name industry, and a supporter, through its own work and that of Nominet Trust, of initiatives that represent the best of the UK internet.  I want to build on these strengths to play an even more significant role in a successful digital economy.”

Russell was previously Managing Director, Middle East & Africa for Thomson Reuters.
