.Club announced at the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. conference in Miami the launch of Startup.club – a new program to help entrepreneurs get a .CLUB name and additional marketing and PR support for their business.
With Startup.club .CLUB is offering qualified companies an easy 10 year interest free payment plan. The first sale of the Startup.club was the domain name coffee.club that was sold for $100,000 with payment spread over 10 years. The Buyer is the owner of the domain name coffee.org.
“With the growing popularity of subscription and membership based businesses (Birchbox, BarkBox, Trunk Club, Shaving.club, etc.) there are many startups that would love to use a great .CLUB domain name. In some cases, a startup may be able to get a unique .CLUB name for a low “general availability” price, such as MiPay.club did. In other cases, a company may want to use a high profile “category killer” name for their business, such as Shaving.club. However, the higher costs of a premium name could be prohibitive for a young startup that is also funding the launch of a new business.”
In addition to the payment plan for premium names, members of the Startup.club will also get additional support from the .CLUB team, including participation in advertising, marketing and PR programs and other benefits. These benefits are available to any qualified business that is using a .CLUB name as their primary web address, even if it is not a premium name. You can find out more and apply for your company to join the Startup.club at www.startup.club.
It’s all hype. I didn’t really sell for $100k. It was pretty much a barter. The buy pays10K a year and can stop anytime. The seller provides way more than 10K a year in marketing work and also promise to send a bunch or subscribers.
