The domain name MM.com was sold for $1.2 million at Sedo today.
The domain was owned by Minnesota MicroNet, an Internet Service Provider, since at least 1995. The domain mm.com was registered back in 1994.
The company that seems to be the seller, is not out of business. They are still active but are now using the less expensive (and less memorable) domain name mnmicro.net. I guess $1.2 million can justify a domain name change.
Whois has been updated and shows “Hangzhou Duomai E-Commerce Co.,Ltd” as the new owner. I think this is the company behind the popular Chinese domain marketplace 4.cn. Well I am pretty sure as the whois also has this message “please contact with 4.cn brokers”.
The domain mm.com is already for sale and together with some chinese ppc ads it displays this message: ” This domain may be for sale. Click here to make an offer.”
I think domain MM.com does not resolve at all. If this was a sale to domainer/investor for resale and not end-user sale, then the price is right. If the buyer is end-user, then it is cheap. That’s my 5 cents.
It resolves for me now.
