The following 6 Donuts New gTLDs went out of the EAP pricing and into the real (reg fee) general availability yesterday: .ACADEMY .CENTER .COMPANY .COMPUTER .MANAGEMENT .SYSTEMS. Also .Uno went into general availability yesterday.
Here are the results for the 6 Donuts New gTLDs:
New gTLD | # of registrations |
academy | 3202 |
center | 5880 |
company | 7815 |
computer | 1429 |
management | 2525 |
systems | 3406 |
.Company did pretty well and it almost matched the number that .Tips got on it’s first day that was 8019 domain names. .Center did better than what I thought. The others didn’t do too well and especially .computer did terrible. .Computer is tech related and there are a lot of New gTLDs coming that are also tech/internet related. I guess a little bit of marketing wouldn’t hurt. So far there is none.
.Uno only got 857 domain name registrations (including sunrise) after it’s first day despite great expectations from some people. If we take out the 142 domains that are registered by the registry then we are left with just 715 domain names including sunrise domain names (75). One person bought 205 .uno domain names.
All the numbers above are far behind the .berlin numbers that went into GA on Tuesday with 31956 domain name registrations. .Menu only got 1649 on it’s first day this Monday.
I am seeing a lot more premium pricing than usual, and more mid tier reserved domains. Looks like the registries are getting a bit over confident.
I noticed that too. More and more domains are marked as premium. Getting better in the domaining game…
more and more
and there wil come more sunrise regs as well (just to snap the ultras)
Sunrise is non existant despite the trademark clearinghouse registrations.
Well some of the more non donut companies, are alot more aggressive with premium pricing, not coming off EAP prices which gradually come down, but sticking to one time premium sales, basically creating their own aftermarket from the registrar point of view.
Many people had confidence in .uno, half of them didn’t even realize it launched, and with one guy buying a third of them, it was a real big bust for them.
One other guy bought another 80. Maybe there were 100 people buying .uno in the first day at most.
It’s very interesting that 2 guys only took about 300 domains.
what do you think it means?
I am noticing this as well.
i thought the systems or the center will be the winner .. but .. surprise surprise 🙂
Early numbers favored company, with center, you have two different spellings, so it is always a tricky one with international sales: center, centre
the more domains priced as premium the less they will sell over time, i believe. people can only afford to shell out so much per domain every year.
