.OOO entered general availability yesterday, 24th of October. According to ntldstats.com it has about 28,500 domains after its first day. But more than 28,000 are the so called .ooo premium reserved domains. I have no idea what the registry is calling premium .ooo domains but I would never have guessed that it could be so many!
The real registrations are 170 and that includes the 21 domains registered by the registry for its own use. That leaves 149 domains registered. You should also note that these 149 domains were not all registered on the 1st day of general availability but include sunrise domains as well. And there are some usual suspects that register their trademarks in all new gtlds. They get maybe 30 to 50 or even more no matter what the New gTLD is.
India, the home of the .ooo registry, has more than 10 ICANN accredited registrars but not one has registered a single .ooo domain name.
Here is one domain that someone registered: casin.ooo.
All I can say is n.ooo!
(Namestat.org: OOO day one, 31,463 added to zonefile – 31,290 reserved by the registry (787 2 letter), 173 registrations (approx))
(Ntldstats reports some unprocesssed domains: 2,446. If this is updated later then I will update this post accordingly.)
(The “New gTLD 1st Day Registrations” include sunrise domain names as well as any domains registered by the registry or any founder’s program. Any registry is allowed to register up to 100 domains for it’s own use and give out another 100 as part of the New gTLD founder’s program.)
(I am always comparing the same first hours from their 1st day for all New gTLDs. The hours between General Availability and the first zone files update.)
Are the 28K premium domains reserved and not registered? I was able to get 7 domains so does that mean I have 4% of the 170 registered domains?
Yes but why.yyy?
I very rarely invest in any of the new tlds but couldn’t pass up 777.ooo, USA.ooo, host.ooo, and a few other generics.
I think you picked the wrong one. There is a reason why these domains were available.
Hmmm… That makes me wonder what the reserved premium domains are.
Don’t get me wrong, they are a LONG shot but I’d rather pay reg fee for a few years than regret not registering them if the extension does become well known.
Sure. I get it. Hope the reg fee is cheap.
I just don’t get people registering blahblah.anything and then saying they have the best domain name in the world and asking for 1M USD.
That is why I am as blunt as I can be.
But you are clearly not one of them.
Some of the “premium” domains (registrant: Verisign Customer Service) are thediamond.ooo, testberichte.ooo, tetrazon.ooo, tested.ooo, texasgolf.ooo, tianya.ooo, zwaar.ooo, zzy.ooo.
I didn’t see a second “ooo” ad in Times of India again.
Hi Anil. Thanks for that.
I couldn’t live without your software! Keep up the good work!
Weird, I guess diamond.ooo wasn’t a premium to them.
My god. They are a disaster.
diamond.ooo, diamondclub.ooo , diamonddistrict.ooo, diamondlife.ooo, diamondring.ooo, diamondrings.ooo, diamonds.ooo, diamondvision.ooo, pinkdiamond.ooo, apollodiamond.ooo, buydiamond.oo are also registered 🙂
By Verisign? I got diamond.ooo
No, I was just listing all the *diamond*.ooo in the zone file.

Did they reserve 30,000 domains and forgot the 1-letter domains?
Are 1 letter domains even allowed?
Of course. I have a few.
2 letter were not allowed but they will be soon, from what ICANN said last week.
Hmmm I knew about 2 letter but was assuming 1 letter werent allowed as well.
I think what happened is that the domains became available and then a script was run to register the premium domains but there was a few minutes where we could register whatever we wanted.
For example, I got diamond at 7:25 but the premium diamondring wasn’t regged until 7:40
Could be. That seems like a pretty stupid thing to do.
Other registries have registered premium domains but not like this.
You can just reserve all premium domains and then register them where you want and when you want.
Yes.ooo 🙂
Did dynadot read this then go and reg all the single letter names?
It seems like it. Or whois is wrong?
I have no idea what is going on… 🙂
The premium domains no longer appear to be in the zone file (10/25/2014) (the zone file size dropped to 281Kb from 5MB)
Hey I am the owner of casin.ooo, glad that you mentioned my name even if you don’t like it. I think it’s an awesome name hack (3 of the same symbol, cash machine, ding ding ding)! But most importantly, I love the name.
I am actually a web developer and might use the name to build an online casino.
I also registered other .ooo names but casin.ooo is by far my favorite because the 3 ooo makes sense.
Here they are:
vide.ooo
phot.ooo
cond.ooo
credit.ooo
stuff.ooo
I do it by passion first, I only register names that I might use for my websites. I love to be able to get names I like for cheap. Lot of opportunities for future projects with these new gtlds.
I tried porn.ooo but didnt get it.
I also got several other new gtlds, here is once I am currently developing:
http://science.media
amazing, i like ur passion !!
i dont really like name hacks but hey, the idea is great 🙂
show me more of ur ngtlds if u like, its a good inspiration.
This is how I started too. As a web developer.
The point is this: how many of these do you think you can actually build?
Because if you have more than what you can handle then you are going to have to sell a few or drop them.
And in this case I think that these are unsellable. And pretty bad for SEO…
This one I like: science.media.

Hey Konstantinos,
I’m wondering if I can get your expertise seeing your in the industry… I’m wondering if I’m at risk losing my OOO TLD with the response I got from my Registrar?
So I registered a .ooo TLD, and I wasn’t able to set the Name Servers, and I reached out to my Registrar and they replied with this:
“We have verified the reason that your domain is currently on ‘serverHold’ with our registry team, and this is namely that “” is on ICANN’s collision list.
Where previous new gTLD registry operators were obliged by ICANN to block all collision names from registration, registry operators are now permitted to register collision domains (if they wish) but ICANN mandates that such domains must not be allowed to resolve in the DNS for an initial period after General Availability opens. This period has been set by ICANN most recently at 90 days.
So while you have secured your domain name, the .OOO registry will not permit it to resolve at the moment.”
So that 2nd paragraph scared me, but then the last sentence made me feel better. So to be certain I asked for a confirmation that I am not at risk losing my new domain, and they replied:
“My apologies for the delay in responding on that point; your domain is secured like any other and your title to it just subject to the same terms and conditions as any other .OOO domain. You can see all relevant policies regarding .OOO domains at this extension’s homepage at our main site (under the ‘Policies’ area): http://www.instra.com/en/domain-names/newgtld/ooo-domain-registration/ooo”
Perhaps I might lose it and I just don’t understand how it works… or maybe I’m just so scared of losing it, I’m reading into things too much… so what do you think? Is my new domain truly mine and I won’t have any issues with ICANN? Or is there a possibility they will take my domain?
Thanks in advance for your response, and if you don’t reply I understand you have far better things to do then one random comment of the hundreds you get a day.
It seems that you are ok.
It is yours but you can’t use it yet.
But you never know with these new registries. I have seen a lot of strange things lately.
Is your domain a 1 letter domain by any chance?
Thanks for your reply Konstantinos, I do appreciate it. It’s not a 1 letter domain, no. It’s oooo.ooo
Yes, it is on the collision list.
Okay great, let’s hope your right and all goes well!
Infibeam is making an impressive efforts in promoting there .ooo domain extension, but its success will be seen when it makes any profit from it.
Good News Guys!
kittens.ooo was sold for $ 18,000 USD!
Looks like .ooo is building its base.
I regret not buying any.
I am gonna start now.
George.
Yes George,
but you don’t need to buy any .ooo domains as you own the registry!
I HAVE A TOP NAME FOR SALE
http://WWW.SHAMP.OOO
I managed to register sex.ooo domain, in my account for 8 months, until renewed for 2 year. Then suddenly the Dynadot.com warned me that the domain would be deleted from my account. It was removed, I went to the ICANN, but nothing. I lost domain.
I have all the evidence.
