The .London registry released a new TV ad for the new top level domain name.
Until 31st July 2014, Londoners get priority for Dot London domain names. This means that if you are a London-based business, organisation, neighbourhood association or a proud Londoner, you get priority when applying for a Dot London domain name.
A digital pioneer, London is one of the first cities in the world to launch its own domain name, putting it at the forefront of innovation once again.

Good to finally see a registry promoting a extension to end-users instead of only pushing their gTLD on industry blogs etc.The real success for any of the new gTLDs will be in getting as many developed sites out there and have businesses and individuals use and promote their sites on the extension. I also like the ad. It’s cool.
Is this actually going on TV or just online?
They say it is a TV ad so I assume it is true.
I don’t live in the UK so I haven’t actually seen it on TV.
I think london is going to be difficult for us domainers.
good names are ..
– bought by sunrise
– bought by landrush
– reserved
– reserved
– reserved
– expensiv
and a lot of domain hunters everywhere
and a lot of costomers on every single registrar
but on the other side, if u got a nice domain, for sure u will sell it faster 🙂
i was six times in london and i love the atmo there
i hope for one or two nice london domains
what do you mean by reserved?
.london has a lot of domains reserved by the registry.
I am interested in seeing how .uk might have spoiled the show by being first mover. I’d also be interested in seeing the numbers end of day July 31
.uk was a damp squib. Most of the good terms already owned by the grandfathering domains.
Not “most” but all good terms are grandfathered.
recent figures from names.co.uk show .london is dominating the gTLD market.

.london will stay ahead of its counterparts especially if the marketing wheel is now in motion. I haven’t seen this advert specifically but I have seen others on online TV ad breaks.
Oliver, could you elaborate on where they get the .london registration numbers? We know that general availability is sometime September and the ntld stats show a handful. Any registries doing registrations for .london right now to the public?
No they don’t. That was expressions of interest numbers back in May.
.London is still in Landrush phase.
Thanks @k the article Oliver posted was a head scratcher.
