Many .US Domain Name Offers Are Coming Lately

I am getting a lot of .us domain name offers lately. They started coming the week before the 4th of July and they keep coming until today.

I have gotten 7 offers for .us domains in 9 days (5 days before the 4th of July and 3 days after the 4th).

I sold the domain sheffield.us to a startup from Miami, Florida. I got the inquiry on the 5th of July, we agreed on the 6th and the domain was paid for at Escrow.com and transferred to the buyer’s registrar by the 7th.

I have also gotten 2 other offers for up to $1,000 but no other sales yet.

Not sure if this burst was caused by the 4th of July or it is just a coincidence. It could be a coincidence as offers are coming from Europe too. Most are from startups that don’t have a big budget.

BTW I have freedom.us for sale this week for $4,500.

  1. Congrats 🙂 But surprising that offers are coming from Europe. Sure, Europeans don’t have the bias against ccTLDs (unlike the US), but they might very well not be compliant with US nexus 🙁

  2. Make that 8 inquiries in 10 days. Just got another one.

  3. Yabba dabba doo….

  4. Some commenters have trashed dot us, but it could be the next unmined extension!

  5. Are they going after search volume based domain names or brand able ones? For example I have BitcoinMining.us with 300,000 searches in google each month, but I’ve heard of more interest for brand able ones (certainly freedom.us is a great one).
