tlds sold for $200,000 (bought on the 1st day of .app EAP)

The domain name sold for $200,000 at Sedo and it was not a registry sale.

The seller was from California and the domain was brokered by Yiming Yang.

The domain name is pending transfer out of GoDaddy that it is currently registered. still shows Sedo in whois so the buyer is not yet known.

The domain was registered in the first day of the EAP (Early Access Period) in May 2018 a week before General Availability. The seller paid $12,500 on top of the premium registration fee.

The domain costs about $2,000 to renew each year depending on the registrar. ($1,600 wholesale) So the seller had already about $16,500 in the name.

.App, a Google domain name extension, has 671,438 domain names registered according to

According to Sold.Domains this is the 7th highest New gTLD sale of all time ranking just below that sold for $201,250.

This is of course the highest New gTLD sale of 2020 and the 2nd 6-figure sale after sold for $125,000.

There are now 27 .app domain names in the Sold.Domains database.
