NamesCon 2019

NamesCon 2019 day 2: Best sessions on Monday

NamesCon 2019 started yesterday in Las Vegas. This will be the last year the event is held in Las Vegas.

Next year NamesCon Global moves to Austin, Texas. This is a welcomed change for me. I just hope the event keeps moving every year so I can visit more places in the US.

Here is what caught my eye from the Monday’s sessions and events from the NamesCon agenda:

  • Domain Trends and Insights (11:00 AM – 12:00 PM)
Paul Nicks, VP & GM, Aftermarket at GoDaddy
  • Domain Sales Optimization Strategies (11:00 AM – 11:45 AM)
Yes, this is at the same time as the session above…
  • What is my domain worth? (3:00 PM – 4:00 PM)
  • NamesCon Domain Auction (4:00 PM – 7:00 PM)
Not too excited about the auction (see below)
  • ICA Dinner at NamesCon 2019 (6:00 PM – 9:00 PM)
(No party tonight? What happened? I guess there may be a few private parties…)
I am not too excited about the auction because despite some good domains there are very high reserves. End-user reserves. So if there are not many end-users lined-up with specific domains they want to purchase very very few of these high-reserve domains are going to sell.
Here are the top 3 bids so far on domains that had no reserve or the reserve has been met:
  • traceroute.com – $13,333 (this single bid that met reserve seems a bit strange to me)
  • xga.com – $7,800
  • ibar.co – $2,600
