.NYC will have a travel and tourism related domain name auction in May.
The auction opens May 3, 1 PM ET and closes May 10, 1 PM ET.
The auction features 25 domain names:
This is the 4th premium .nyc domain name auction held by .NYC, the city of New York and the .nyc registry Neustar. This 4th auction will be held at Sedo.
These are the results from the first 3 premium .nyc auctions:
- Results from the premium .NYC domain name auction (RealEstate.nyc $21,300)
- Results of the fashion .nyc domain name auction: Shop.nyc $33.5k
- Results of the tech .nyc domain name auction: web .nyc $8,638, startup .nyc $3,300
I later found out that 5 of the domains that were supposedly sold in these 3 auctions were never paid for. The names included Fashion.nyc that had a $37,000 auction price and Rentals.nyc that had a $5,700 auction price.
.nyc is a bust!!!!
Is this still even a topic? lol
Rentals.nyc looks good, though I imagine it would need a smartphone app to back it up for success. People rely heavily on smartphones and iOS or Android app may be more practical for many. Being not paid, looks like a good opportunity for a startup.
Rentals.nyc is not in the auction.
It was auctioned in the first auction, but it was not paid for, hence it may be a part of a future auction?
.nyc is growing in adaption. There will be event about NYC Tech Space and will cover .nyc as well on April 18th, so anyone who is in NY and wants to check it out. Join in at http://www.Meetup.nyc
Usage is growing and registrations are around 70k. Let’s not forget that .nyc’s registrations are usually around $30/year and there’s a requirement that you live, work or have a business in NYC. Given those restrictions 70k is pretty great!
That was a great domain that I had my eye on. C’est la Vie. Congratulations to the buyer.
