Today, MMX launched the Community Priority Phase for the new .boston top level domain.
This phase gives local nonprofit organizations and government entities a chance to apply for their organization’s .boston domain name by registering at www.apply.boston ahead of the wider general availability phase on October 10th, 2017.
“We and City Hall felt it was important to give local nonprofits and government entities the chance to claim their .boston names before general availability,” said Solomon Amoako, VP of Channel Strategy at MMX .
“Working with our local partners, The Boston Globe and EnCirca domain registrar, we are excited to provide these organizations advanced access to further their mission-driven initiatives online.”
The launch of this Community Priority Phase marks just over 60 days until availability of .boston domains for the general public on a first-come-first-served basis. This will be the first opportunity for both businesses and residents to purchase keyword domains of relevance to their business or interests.
MMX is the official registry services provider for .boston, supporting .boston’s marketing efforts and operating the technical infrastructure of the new TLD.
