Public Interest Registry – the non-profit operator of the .org, .ngo, and .ong domains as well as four Internationalized Domain Names (.орг, .संगठन, .机构 and .组织机 构) – today announced that it will enter into a new registry services agreement with Afilias as its back-end registry services provider beginning Jan. 1, 2018.
The selection follows a competitive procurement process through which Public Interest Registry evaluated more than 20 potential service providers representing 15 countries.
“We engaged in an objective, robust procurement process to select a provider that holds itself to the highest operational and ethical standards, and that combines outstanding qualifications with the ability to deliver strategic and innovative approaches,” said Brian Cute, CEO of Public Interest Registry.
“We are pleased to work with Afilias to continue to provide our users around the globe with secure and stable domain services. We thank all who participated in our procurement process for their significant efforts.”
Afilias which has been the back-end registry for PIR and .ORG domains since 2002.
Afilias was selected as the best value solution based on the objective criteria and requirements set forth in Public Interest Registry’s procurement process. It is anticipated that Afilias will commence operations under the new contractual agreement on Jan. 1, 2018.
