Rightside Sells Sex.LIVE For $160,000 And Porn.LIVE For $120,000

Rightside announced today that last month it sold two of its Premium domains, which ranked as two of the largest per domain revenue transactions in Rightside’s history.

Sex.LIVE sold for $160,000 and Porn.LIVE went for $120,000. [websites are NSFW]

The domain names rank #5 and #8 respectively in the all time New gTLD domain name sales. There have been 15 reported sales of $100,000 or more since the launch of New gTLDs in 2014.

“As we mentioned, the web is a diverse place, and a sizable chunk of it is dedicated to adult pastimes. While recent headlines have proclaimed that Pokémon Go has become “bigger than pornography,” the fact remains that adult content represents one of the largest segments of commerce on the internet. And as much as the adult entertainment industry has the internet to thank for its size, the internet itself can thank pornography for a great deal of its early (and current) innovation, too.”

“One of the key things to note about these domains is that they weren’t purchased as investments to hold and later sell off, but to be used immediately as real websites to support real businesses. Their proprietor judged that these keyword rich domains and the power of the .LIVE extension would return on his investment by driving significant traffic and impressions”

“As an investor, I believe the new TLDs are the most undervalued asset class available today,” said the registrant. “The .LIVE extension is particularly attractive given the proliferation of live streaming content across the internet and the significant usage we are starting to see by celebrities and organizations, big and small, of domains ending with .LIVE to facilitate their live content.”

It is not clear who the buyer is, as the domain names are behind whois privacy and registered at Enom.

“The choice of the .LIVE new domain extension takes advantage of the overall wave of live content being consumed across the internet in recent months. And the purchase and use of these domains is just one more demonstration of what we have been saying all along: Highly relevant search terms on both sides of the dot make for valuable domains. We feel that our portfolio of new gTLDs can be a great fit for many types of businesses in many types of subject matter. We’re very encouraged to see that others agree and are willing to invest in this new era of memorable, descriptive online properties.”

  1. Of course they are under privacy for obvious reason.

  2. I am wondering if this means sexlive.com is at least $160,000.

  3. IMHO that will drive more traffic to the two corresponding .com 🙂

  4. Make me an offer Porna.live. Serious buyer only.

  5. @Konstantino, find me a buyer and you get some % of the sale final sale. I am serious!

  6. Seems like a good purchase if the .com versions went for so much. It’s still early days for the new tlds. Thoughts?

  7. Does anyone know how much will be the cost of the annual renewal?
