More Domains Deleted By ICM Registry: buy.porn, host.porn, hosting.porn etc.

porn-adult-domainsYesterday I published the story of the domain names ads.porn and ads.adult that were deleted by the registry because of an administrative mistake had not put the domains on the reserved list. I searched to find more domains like that and I also got an email from someone else complaining about the same problem. So I found 4 more .porn and .adult domains that were deleted by the ICM Registry a couple of days after the .porn and .adult general availability. I also searched the whois history and this is what I found: buy.porn – Was on a Go Daddy Auction as it had more than 1 pre-registration orders host.porn – Was registered to Innovation HQ, Inc. hosting.porn – Was registered to GEC Media Inc. hosting.adult – Was registered to GEC Media Inc. Innovation HQ, Inc. is a very well know domain name investing company with thousands of quality domain names. I wonder what their reaction to this was. I actually got an email from one of the bidders of the buy.porn auction at Go Daddy. This is what he told me:

buy.porn I preordered it at GoDaddy. Since there was more than one preorder, it went into a closed auction, which ends tonight. It seems that in the meantime, the registry took it back (I received an email notifying me of the refund). The funny thing is that the auction is still live. I wonder what GoDaddy will tell the winner of the auction 🙂

And then he emailed me again saying:

I just won the GoDaddy auction for buy.porn… Let’s see what happens now!

So this whole situation is even dragging Go Daddy into it. James, the original registrant of ads.porn and adult.porn, told me that Stuart Lawley offered him a domain name of a value of up to $5,000 from the reserved .porn or .adult list to replace the loss of the 2 domain names. As of yesterday James had not accepted this offer. I wonder if the same offer was made to the other registrants, including all the Go Daddy bidders, and if they took the offer. It seems that this situation has no end. More complaints are coming forward every day. ICANN rules regarding the New gTLD registries should be reconsidered. Unfortunately this whole situation is another example of a New gTLD launch gone bad. And that gives a bad reputation to all other registries as well, although it is not their fault. ICM Registry is a member of the Domain Name Association.  I think that the other members should do something about this.

  1. This company should not be in this business. Those affected should bring a class suit.

  2. Yes this happened with tranny.porn
Was in a live closed auction via godaddy, I got an email saying I’ve been refunded although the auction was still going, I won the auction yesterday and paid up, so now am waiting to see what happens.

  3. What happened to my domain

Idiots imo. A real bunch of stand up business people over at that “icm”. Maybe it stands for ” incompetent morons”?

  4. What happened to my domain

These new extensions are a joke. They were promoted as making more premium names available to Internet users. They are holding all of the premiums for a PREMIUM PRICE????
What makes this any different than the .com aftermarket that already existed?
Huge cash grab, no added value just confusion. Way to go Chade!! Not.

  5. its like they just look at new regs and say hmm we should of kept this one and this one and this one…claw em back boys!

  6. disappointed by ICM

ICM has lost all its credibility by backing out of the promise of granting .porn and .sex to .xxx owners for free. That promise was used by ICM to justify the very high price of .xxx domains.
Guess what now we will have to pay 3 times as much (80$ for each of these 3).
    Shameful

  7. I know where you guys are coming from by but Stuart is a very rich man early on with his online provider than with .xxx, next time he applies for an ext write icann and let them know, domain owners have 0 say it is pretty sad, a domain communism.

    • In other words customers have 0 say. At least be honest and let customers know before they buy a domain name what the customers rights are, little to none.

  8. People are being distracted by the new gtlds and missing out in a temporary second chance opportunity to get good .coms right now. I will say no more as the less competition the better.

  9. I had 6 names taken away. If anyone knows what can be done please let me know
