The domain names KimKardashian .Porn and
KimKardashian .Adult were registered yesterday. And not by Kim herself or her representatives.
.Porn and .Adult new domain names launched yesterday and 3,756 new domains were registered in the first few hours. About 13,000 more domains were registered before the general availability yesterday, in the sunrise phase and the matching program. Only holders of registered trademarks in the Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH) were eligible to participate in the Sunrise phase. The domain matching program was a priority registration period for 2011 .XXX Sunrise applicants AND for .XXX domain name holders.
Other celebrities registered their names in .porn and .adult in the sunrise phase of the .porn and .adult new extensions. But not all celebrities have registered trademarks matching their names. Some (not a lot) registered their domains yesterday.
For example Justin Bieber registered the domain name JustinBieber .porn and Jennifer Lopez registered the domain names JenniferLopez .porn and JenniferLopez .adult.
Others didn’t registered any .porn and .adult domains and had the same luck as Kim. More on this in a following article.
But Kim Kardashian owns several trademarks registered in the United States Patent and Trademark Office such as “Kim Kardashian”, “KIM KARDASHIAN WEST”, “KK KIM KARDASHIAN”, “LOVE BY KIM KARDASHIAN” and many others. She didn’t use any of these.
One would expect that Kim Kardashian, that was involved in a famous sex tape, would protect herself in the .porn and .adult namespace.
The domain names KimKardashian .Porn and KimKardashian .Adult were both registrered at the GoDaddy registrar.
KimKardashian .Adult was registered by someone from the state of Connecticut. He seems to own some domains that are adult oriented.
Most interestingly the whois record for the domain name KimKardashian .Porn says “Pending Update”. This means that there more that 1 registration orders for the domain. So the domain name is in an auction at Go Daddy Auctions with 2 or more parties bidding for it. The highest bidder will be the new owner in a few days.
Kim-Kardashian .Adult is behind whois privacy so the owner is unknown.
The domain names Kim-Kardashian .Adult, Kim .Porn, Kim .Adult and Kardashian .Porn were also registered yesterday.
.Porn and .Adult domain names have a registration and annual renewal cost of about $80.
KimKardashian .xxx is not available for registration as ICM Registry, the .xxx, .porn and .adult registry, had reserved the domain name in the .xxx extension to protect Kim Kardashian and other well known celebrities. If you visit the official whois webpage for .xxx and search for KimKardashian .xxx you will get a message saying “This domain name is reserved and is therefore not available for registration.“.
