Nominet is making the zone files for all of the domains they manage available to members for the first time.
But that is not all, as the zone file will contain only active domain names.
Nominet will also offer a file of all registered domains that includes active domains that are suspended or without an associated name server. This information that does not appear in the zone file.
Individual copies of the zone file for each extension (.uk, co.uk, ltd.uk, me.uk, net.uk, org.uk, plc.uk, sch.uk) will have all the resource records associated with each zone but will have no WHOIS data.
Both files will be a snapshot of the registry, taken at 8.30am GMT and will be available from 9am the following day.
The first files will be available on 17th May. Members interested in accessing this data can now sign up via Online Services. The data is free to Nominet members.
So 100% accurate drop lists now. 🙂
Nominet membership, as the prerequisite:
“To become a Member, there is a one-off joining fee of £400 +VAT, with an annual subscription charge of £100 +VAT.”
They are smart charging for what should be free. Not!
