Today is the final day to apply with priority for .NYC domain names. Applications for priority requests will be received until October 3, 11AM New York time, but some registration sites are expected to close before this to allow for processing time.
According to directors of HelloDotNYC (hellodotnyc.com), a specialized registration service for .NYC, the first domains will be assigned within the first hour after closure. In the case of duplicate registration requests for domains, auctions will be held to determine the owner, scheduled between October 23 and November 6.
These are the final few hours to apply with priority for .NYC domains or to prevent someone else from registering your name before the City opens the registry for public access, scheduled for October 8, 11AM EST.
New Yorkers may apply now at any of the domain registration sites. The price for a priority request in www.hellodotnyc.com is 67.99 USD and includes the first year of registration if the application is successful.
let’s wait for 8 october 🙂
Are you a New Yorker?
I got a GoDaddy confirmation for one of my August .NYC pre-orders… it’s showing in my account, but I can’t edit the settings because I’m seeing a message I’ve never seen before that says “Pending Registry Action”. I’m not sure what that means.
Hmmm. Maybe these domains are activated on the general availability day…
Is the domain resolving?
It means its pending a release or approval by the registry. Remember .NYC domains are for New Yorkers only. So it could be that registries have to verify residency.
