Here are the domain name registration results of this week’s 7 New gTLD launches:
.Global and .Yokohama entered general availability on the 9th of September. Both were flops. .Global reached 1,630 registrations and .yokohama had only 953 domains. I don’t know that happened with .yokohama because the other Japanese city New gTLDs did much better. The City of Yokohama, is the second largest city in Japan by population after Tokyo.
.London, one of the biggest geo New gTLDs, entered general availability on Tuesday the 9th of September. .London got 12,423 new domain name registrations on it’s first day. .London also had 22,633 domains from it’s priority program and sunrise. So the total first day domain registrations were 35,056. Domain names with more than 1 applicant in the priority program have not yet started to be allocated. This was not as good as expected.
Yesterday also, Wednesday the 1oth of September, 4 Donuts New gTLDs went out of the EAP pricing and into the real (reg fee) general availability: .Digital, .Finance, .Insure, Accountants.
The first day, or rather first hours, registration numbers were a mixed bag for the 4 Donuts New gTLDS. The best one, .digital had 2,638 domain registrations. .Finance had 1,057 domains and .insure had just 788 domain names. .Accountants had only 371 registrations. .Accountants is pretty expensive as it is being sold at about $90 at Go Daddy.
These numbers include the Sunrise (trademark) domain registrations which are not that high anyway and EAP registrations.
(I am always comparing the same first hours from their 1st day for all New gTLDs. The hours between General Availability and the first zone files update.)
I got following domains
– BookMaker.London
– Trade.Yokohama
– Bio.Yokohama
– Realty.Finance
– Lombard.Finance
