This past week the following 3 New gTLDs entered general availability with EAP: .domains, .limo and .cab. .Domains deserves a separate post because of the volume of sales that will be posted tomorrow.
No .cab and .limo New gTLD domain names sold in the first day of the Early Access Program (EAP) for $12,500+.
Click here to see all past New gTLD 5-figure sales.
There were 3 domain names sold on the 2nd day of the EAP for about $3,200 each:
tri.cab
eztaxi.cab
rental.limo
The domain tri.cab was bought by Triangle Cables that owns tricab.com.
The domain rental.limo was bought by RentalLimo.com from Florida.
There were also 3 domain names bought at about $1200 each in the third day of EAP:
atlanta.limo
miami.limo
rent.limo
The domain name atlanta.limo was bought by a domainer.
The domain miami.limo was bought by Transportation America.
I also checked all the corresponding domain names in .com (including plurals) and found 2 that were sitting unregistered today:
eztaxicabs.com
You can register a domain name using the Donuts EAP that is available in registrars that sell Donuts gTLDs. EAP prices start at about $12,500 and are lowered within the course of the week until they reach the regular registration cost after the 7 day period. The EAP wholesale registrar prices are:
$10,000 (day1)
$2,500 (day2)
$950 (day3)
$500 (day4)
$100 (days 5-7)
Go Daddy’s early access prices are at about $12,539.99 for day one, $3,164.99 for day two, $1,239.99 for day three, $689.99 for day four and $189.99 for days five to seven. After day seven the regular registration cost applies.
A report on the .domains one will be interesting…
RentalLimo bought up the majority of the big US Geo cities, and they are in an auction for a few more. They were the primary person trying to secure domains in the .limo space.
They spend into 5 figures, as they were paying $549 EAP to Godaddy for such names on the last phase of the sunrise. The GEO’s come with a $250 annual renwal, so you best to be an end user in this space.
miamibeach.limo $399 a year at Godaddy domain available
Just for fun I loaded the domain in my godaddy cart to see the price, godaddy automatically puts it to a 5 year registration, and my total cost was:
$399 x 5 years
ICANN Fees* $0.90
$2,000.85
Proceed to Checkout > Ahhhh No Thanks!
The rate is down to $230 at other registrars.
I don’t say it’s cheap…
Considering the .com is parked, and only the .net is taken, unless you are an end user, does not seem like a good way to invest your money.
I have been watching a lot of these get snapped up as the price changes on the last day of EAP – Many by eNom. Are these from backorders/preorders which in a sense are snaps?
If the creation time is 16.00 UTC then these are pre-registration snaps.
how much for newyork.cab?:)
