GMEurope.com dropped by General Motors, caught and auctioned at Namejet

The domain name GMEurope.com was dropped by General Motors and it was caught and auctioned at Namejet. The domain that was used as the official website for General Motors Europe AG had an original registration date of August 25 1995 and was previously registered with CSC CORPORATE DOMAINS, INC.. The domain was let go by General Motors after GM Europe closed in 2010. The domain has links and must have traffic. I don’t know why they didn’t just redirected it to their official gm.com website.

The domain was caught by Namejet and was auctioned with the high bidder paying $356 USD in an auction with 31 bidders in it.

General Motors Europe AG (often abbreviated to GM Europe) was responsible for the operation of General Motors businesses in Europe. The subsidiary was established by GM in 1986 and operated 14 production and assembly facilities in 9 countries, and employed around 54,500 people. After Saab was sold to Spyker, GM and its German subsidiary Opel decided to eliminate the former GM Europe organization in Zurich, Switzerland.

All this while General Motors reported last month a weaker-than-expected fourth quarter profit, citing wider losses in Europe and lower vehicle prices plus higher costs in its core North American market.
