The domain name nye.com was just sold at NameJet. Highest bid was $175,500. The reserve was probably at about $100k but I can’t be sure. The auction had 331 bids from 285 bidders. There were 5 bidders with a $10k bid or higher and 2 bidders that battled till the end.
The domain nye.com was registered in 1996 and is currently behind privacy and parked at Internet Traffic.
This price puts nye.com at the 21st place of the top 2012 domain sales. The only 3 letter domain higher is cdn.net at $185,000.
A few days back the domain name liao.com sold for $118,888 at NameJet.
“Horrible letters! Not premium! Should sell for $4,000 to a reseller!” etc. etc.
We heard that BS before but the truth is LLL .com domains are the most liquid domain assets. NYE = New York Exchange, for example.
Namejet is killing it! It was obviously a truncation buy (like Frager has reported) for this website http://www.billnye.com
It was probably a domainer.
Perhaps Nye Lubricants, a big company, bought it.
Perhaps. It doesn’t seem that the buyer has paid yet.
