I got an email the other day from a Sedo account manager. She was offering me a list of 2 or 3 character domains. This seemed like normal brokering until I got to this part:
If you are looking for details on these offers please feel free to contact the client directly.
Why would Sedo tell buyers to contact sellers directly? Sedo makes profit as a broker on sales commision and is hiding buyer’s and seller’s contact details only to ensure that it gets the commision from domain name sales.
I requested the list only to find out that the seller was DomCollect. DomCollect Worldwide Intellectual Property AG, a company based in Switzerland, is 100% owned by Sedo GmbH. DomCollect is said to own over 100,000 domain names in its domain portfolio.
Why is sedo presenting DomCollect as their client?
I asked the Sedo account manager about this but never got a reply.
Kosta,
Do you know if there is a dispute with 1and1.com/domcollect and you sell a domain via sedo.com can Sedo take your money from the sale until the dispute has bean resolved?
Because sedo.com is acting like the escrow
Sorry but I don’t understand. What is the dispute about?
Thanks for reply,
It does not matter what the dispute is.
My question is can sedo.com take your sale money on the closing you have with Sedo because Sedo is affiliate with 1and1 and i have a dispute with 1and1 ?
1and1 is not affiliared with domcollect as far as I know. Sedo is affiliated with domcollect. Please explain in detail because I can’t tell you.
So i wanna to move my names away from 1and1 because they were charging to much for the renewal but i could not because i was locked in the 30 days contract prior the renewal.
So they got renewed at a higher cost then i wanna to pay, like double the renewal fee. They gave me an invoice that i refuse to pay.
Now… if i have a domain over at Sedo and i sold it can they take the money from the sale and pay my unpaid 1and1 invoice?
Of course they can’t! Is the domain you sold at 1and1? Not that it matters…
No,at Sedo.Thats were the domain got sold.
I only asked because Sedo and 1and1 is under the same umbrella same German company. And i figured they collaborate,NO ?
I wanted to ask where the domain is/was registered.
Thanks for your thoughts
