Uniregistry Now Supports Premium New gTLD Domain Registrations/Transfers

uniregistryUniregistry just announced today that it now supports premium New gTLD domain name registrations and transfers from the Donuts and Rightside registries.

Up until last week, that I last tried it, you couldn’t transfer a Donuts premium domain name to Uniregistry. And the worst part is that you didn’t know which domains were premium before you had actually submitted the transfer.

It is still very difficult to determine which domains are premium and which are not. That is because regular fee prices vary between extensions and so do the premium prices. And in some cases a regular fee domain name in one extension is more expensive than a premium name in another extension. e.g. Regular priced .training domains at $23.90 are more expensive than premium .photos priced at $22 as the regular price for .photos is $15.90.

But that is now solved at Uniregistry. The problem remains in some other registrars.

Also Uniregistry offers some of the lowest regular and premium rates available. The regular price for the cheapest priced Donuts extensions is $15.90.

  1. Any idea what you can do with topcoins? My account says I already have a max discount, so what good are topcoins?

    • As far as I have discussed with one of the representative at Uniregistry, I was informed that topcoin can only be used for new gTLDs as of now. Not sure whether on new regs and/or renewals both. But at least one of them. You can try and update. I don’t have any new gTLD so I cannot dig this up any further…

    • From what I can tell, TopCoin is intended to become an incentive for various web-centric services. There’s a certain amount that will be issued and then the float will be fixed.

Theoretically you’ll be able to use them for discounts on things like web hosting and trade them amongst ourselves, possibly even use them for domain sales or as a sweetener in a deal.

Currently however Uni is the only participant as far I can tell so just keep racking ’em up and we’ll see how it plays out. Can’t hurt, their regular rates are already pretty low and then include free whois and topcoin.
