.Menu Auction Ends With NO Domains Sold – Another Bad New gTLD Auction

Namejet had a .Menu auction that featured 32 .menu domain names but none of them sold. 6 of the domains got at least the opening $69 bid but none of them reached the reserve. Proteindiet.menu got the highest bid with $210 but did not sell.

The 32 .menu domain names that were supposed to be premium. I wouldn’t even pay reg fee for any off these yet alone bid on them in an auction with reserves. Bingo.menu seriously?

There has been a series with bad New gTLD auctions with the .build Namejet auction and the .BID & .TRADE Auction At Sedo.

The only exception was the .Global auction that got over $60k in sales.

I have said it many times before. Too many failed auctions are not good for the domain names involved (and the New gTLDs in this case), the auction house, and domaining in general. There seems to be at least 4-5 auctions running at any time without counting the daily expired and dropped domain name auctions.

Of course I am boycotting .menu together with .build as both New gTLDs are owned by unethical people trying to manipulate trademarks, registries and domainers.

I started a Campaign to boycott the .Build New gTLD and .menu should be with .build as well.

.Menu registry is owned by What Box Holdings one third of the group that consists of “What Box Holdings“, “Plan Bee LLC” andThomas A. Brackey IIthat has managed to register more than 300 premium generic domain names before anyone else. How? Using “fake” trademarks in Sunrise.

Erik Ludwick, co-founder of WhatBox? LLC, is on the board of Domain Name Association.

  1. A prime example of a generic gTLD that is just TOO focused to have ever been considered a money-making idea.
