In the last quarter of 2024, EURid, the .eu registry, engaged in several initiatives aimed at promoting online safety, digital literacy, and enhancing domain management.

Cybersecurity Month (October 2024)
To support the Cybersecurity awareness month, EURid focused on strengthening online safety by promoting the adoption of DNSSEC and educating users on best practices. The initiative was designed to help ensure a more secure and reliable internet for all users, empowering them to protect their online presence.

CodeWeek 2024
EURid furthered its mission to promote digital literacy by engaging over 350 students from across Europe in workshops during CodeWeek 2024. The sessions covered essential skills in coding, robotics, and internet principles, offering young participants valuable hands-on experience and fostering the next generation of tech enthusiasts.

NIS2 Directive and Policy Updates
In alignment with the NIS2 Directive, EURid introduced new policies aimed at improving transparency and security in domain name management. These updates underscore EURid’s dedication to maintaining high standards of security and operational integrity in an increasingly digital world.

3rd .eu Day at the European Parliament
The 3rd .eu Day, held at the European Parliament, was a significant event focused on tackling disinformation and advocating for global internet governance. Key discussions centered on the role of EU regulations, youth participation in digital policy, and the evolving challenges of internet governance in a dynamic geopolitical landscape.

Operationally, EURid saw 165,391 new domain name registrations in Q4 2024. The total number of .eu registrations reached 3,741, 646. The renewal rate remained steady at 81%.
