GoDaddy fail

I won a domain at GoDaddy auction on the 1st of January 2021.

I tried to pay for it. Here is all I tried so I could pay and failed:

  1. I tried to pay using the firefox browser on my PC. Clicking to pay for the domain or clicking on my cart left me with a blank white page loading to eternity. Tried clearing cookies and a different browser. Nothing. I gave up.
  2. I tried paying on Chrome on my cell phone. I couldn’t see/choose any of the 2 main credit cards I am currently using or add a new one or use Paypal. I gave up.
  3. I tried paying on the Investor App. I got an error cause I couldn’t remove an item I had in my cart from a couple days before and I no longer wanted. I tried to delete it but I got an error message and the item would not go away. I gave up.

I had already wasted too much time on a $50 domain.

Yesterday I tried again and managed to get to my cart on my PC but couldn’t pay by Paypal. I was still getting a white page loading forever. I finally paid using one of my secondary credit cards that was saved on file.

Great way to start the year GoDaddy! #fail

  1. Had the same problem with Chrome. I had to switch to Microsoft Explorer to complete the transaction.

  2. Why didn’t you just call GoDaddy customer service? I’ve had similar issues with GoDaddy and in each case, GoDaddy Customer Service was able to complete the payment for me.

I will not call from Greece. And their usual support is a disaster. It was new years day followed by a weekend so my account rep would not be available. And this is more of a GoDaddy problem than my own individual problem.

  3. I won auction and paid right away. No domain had been received for two weeks. When contacted, Godaddy said: “Seller have up to 30 days”. After 30 days, I contacted again for the refund. Go daddy hold your money for 30 days and you go through all the hassle. if you do not pay for domain name in 48 hours, you get banned and on the other side, they make it up to 30 days for you to hold? There should be a class action against this company.

  4. Same problem, the only thing has worked for me is using the chrome incognito setting.

I guess they are to busy front running domains to bother to fix it LOL

  5. I have returned to Godaddy to auction Domains and pay easily.

Although being the first day of the year, it is normal that in technological science that the software to change from one year to another take at least 24 hours to be more available.

  6. Happy New Year!!

Maybe the hackers from Communist China and Russia are trying to hack into your systems to steal your valuable domains!!

  7. Russia has not been communist since 1991 it is a Federation of States, more or less the US with federal states and the best hackers are linked to the best software security companies in the US.

  8. I know the problems at Godaddy when you buy at auction and when you pay your winnings in the bids, this I think that Godaddy has not taken it seriously as it should.

Godaddy giving the world the best brand and company in domains does not set any good example of security.

There is a quote in the old business world that goes like this: Who wants to monopolize everything, in the end not giving the security of himself.

  9. I’ve been unable to use godaddy auctions with firefox for a couple of weeks now. It works fine for me in Chrome however. in firefox the same thing would happen, blank page loading forever. before that i would get 400 errors after paying for an auction and the only way to get back would be to clear cookies.

  10. I stopped using Godaddy auction when I had a slap on the domain I wanted.
