.Blog will soon release 47,000 3-character “premium” domain names.
All 3-character .blog domains were reserved when .blog launched almost 4 years ago. That was simply a very bad move. The hype has since sailed and these domains will not get the same interest they would have at the time of the launch.
These 47,000 domain names will sell at prices ranging from a few hundred dollars to over $100K. $100k for a .blog? Seriously? At least this price applies only to the first year of registration.
All premium domain names will renew at the regular retail pricing at about $25-$30 depending on the registrar.
The launch official release of the 47,000 premium domain names will be on October 7th, 2020, at 15.00 UTC.
Buying a premium domain works just the same way as purchasing a regular one. Head over to my.blog to check the availability of your desired domain name.
You can find the complete list of over 47,000 three-character premium domain names here: my.blog/placeholder.
The .blog registry (Automattic) was hoping for 250,000 registered domains by the end of 2016 but that never happened. .Blog has 182,710 registered domains today according to namestat.org. 106,720 of these domains (58.5%) are registered at the registry’s own registrar.
Suckers buying all the dot whatever garbage!
