Radix Registry, the company behind .online new domains, revealed today that DC Comics applied to register the domain names Batman.Online and Superman.Online.
Last week Radix announced their latest generic launch, .online had already received 550+ Sunrise requests, with 10+ more days for the phase to end.
Apple leads the pack with 50+ Sunrise requests, accompanied by esteemed brands like Bank of America, Deutsche Telekom, Dow Jones & Company, Fossil, Jimmy Choo, Valentino, H&M, Google, Pandora, Paramount, Sky Entertainment, 20th Century etc.
DC Comics is one of the largest and most successful comic book companies with characters, such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash and Green Arrow.
DC Comics is a Warner Bros company so it is only natural that Warner Bros has applied for a lot more .online domains.
Warner Bros already owns the domain names BatmanOnline.com and SupermanOnline.com. Strangely both domains are forwarding to The DC Comics webpage for Superman: http://www.dccomics.com/characters/superman.
Just like Radix’s .site & .tech, .online will go through an Early Access Phase and then enter General Availability. Here is the launch schedule:
- Sunrise ends – 17th Aug, 2015 (for trademark holders only)
- Early Access Phase – 19th Aug to 26th Aug (registrants pay an extra priority fee)
- General Availability starts – 26th Aug (anyone can register a .online domain name)
