New gTLD 1st Day Domains: .Dentist 907, .Rehab 293

newgtldHere are the 1st day domain name registration results from this week’s 2 New gTLD launches:

Rightside had 2 New gTLDs out of EAP and into General Availability on the 24th of December: .Dentist and .Rehab. .Dentist got 907 domain name registrations after its first day and .rehab got 293 domains. As I expected these 2 extensions did pretty bad, especially .rehab.

The “New gTLD 1st Day Registrations” include sunrise domain names as well as any domains registered by the registry or any founder’s program. Any registry is allowed to register up to 100 domains for it’s own use and give out another 100 as part of the New gTLD founder’s program.

(I am always comparing the same first hours from their 1st day for all New gTLDs. The hours between General Availability and the first zone files update.)

  1. KZ Happy New Year-may i ask your opinion of the .co names-overstock just bought O.co Thank you

  2. I know a “Dentist” that went to “Rehab”…..Too much nitrous oxide….

  3. Most of the names in this release were $3000 – $60,000 renewals, good luck no wonder the stock is at all time low of $7.

  4. .dentist has potential with a city name or last name, but the reg fees for decent size cities are $500 to $6000 from what I’ve seen. Depends how big the dentists ego is.

  5. Dentists in smaller cities are more lucky at ~$40 reg fee.
