Here are the 1st day domain name registration results from this week’s 3 New gTLD launches:
On the 18th of November the Canadian geo New gTLD .quebec launched and got 3,911 domain name registrations. Quebec has a population of 8.18 million people.
Also on the 18th of November .top entered general availability and had 9,261 domains after its first day. Not sure how many of these are premium domains owned by the registry but probably a lot.
Rightside entered general availability for its extension .engineer on the 19th of November and got 529 domains after the first day. In comparison Donuts’s .engineering had 814 domains after its first day.
The “New gTLD 1st Day Registrations” include sunrise domain names as well as any domains registered by the registry or any founder’s program. Any registry is allowed to register up to 100 domains for it’s own use and give out another 100 as part of the New gTLD founder’s program.
(I am always comparing the same first hours from their 1st day for all New gTLDs. The hours between General Availability and the first zone files update.)
