Here are the 1st day domain name registration results from this week’s first 5 New gTLD launches:
One Donuts New gTLD went out of the EAP pricing and into the real (reg fee) general availability on Wednesday 22nd of October: .healthcare. The string has 1,406 domain registrations after its first day.
Rightside entered general availability for 4 of its extensions on the 22nd of October: .army, .navy, .airforce and .vet. And it was a disaster. The only one that did a little better was .vet that can be used both as a veteran and an animal doctor domain name. .Vet has 648 domain registrations after the first day. The others? .Army has 202 domains, .navy has 122 and .airforce has 116 domains.
The “New gTLD 1st Day Registrations” include sunrise domain names as well as any domains registered by the registry or any founder’s program. Any registry is allowed to register up to 100 domains for it’s own use and give out another 100 as part of the New gTLD founder’s program.
(I am always comparing the same first hours from their 1st day for all New gTLDs. The hours between General Availability and the first zone files update.)
