Neustar, the .us registry, is increasing the price of .US domains tomorrow. So from July 1st 2014 all .us domain registrations and renewals will cost an extra $0.50 in wholesale. That is the registrar price increase.
I have not received many registrars notices except one. Dynadot informed me that they are going to increase the .us registrations and renewals by $1. That seems like a big price hike as it is double the registry increase.
So today is the day to renew any .us domains you have. At least the ones that expire in the next few months and save a few bucks.
I have about 550 .us domains expiring .in July and August. I have to decide what to renew and what not to today. 2 weeks back I wrote a post called “What Domains I Dropped In June And Why… (193 domains dropped)” where I explained why I dropped 111 .us domains in June.
Hopefully I don’t have any .us name. 🙂
Btw, I thought that registration of .us domains was restricted.
According to Neustar, “Any U.S. citizen or resident, as well as any business or organization, including federal, state, and local government with a bona fide presence in the United States can register a .US domain name. One of the following eligibility requirements must be met:”
Yes, it is. I fulfill one of those eligibility requirements. 🙂
good to know! 🙂
