In March, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration of the Department of Commerce asked the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to convene global interested parties to develop a proposal to transition the U.S. government’s stewardship of the Internet’s Domain Name System. The Administration’s decision is an important milestone in the evolution of Internet governance.
