ICANN Introduces the New Global Domains Division (GDD) Portal

ICANN introduced the new Global Domains Division (GDD) portal. ICANN’s Global Domains Division (GDD) oversees generic domain operations, domain name industry engagement and Web services, with the goal of having all of these pieces coming together under one umbrella in order to improve efficiencies and to serve both registries and applicants better.

Following its announcement earlier this month, as part of ICANN’s efforts to streamline processes wherever possible, ICANN is pleased to announce the official launch of the Global Domains Division Portal.

Registries will no longer need to send and keep track of various email threads or track down individual sources for their multiple work items. The GDD Portal now provides registries with the means to communicate all registry-related activities directly to ICANN in one, centralized location.

Processes that are incorporated in the portal include:

  • Registry Onboarding Information Requests (ONBIR)
  • Sunrise processes
  • Registry contact information
  • TLD startup information
