Afternic and Go Daddy published their combined weekly domain name sales. The total sales for week 2-10-14 to 2-16-14 were $2.168.125.
The domain name diamonds.info was sold for $20,000 and that makes me wonder if this sale has anything to go with the New gTLD .diamonds that is in general availability since last Wednesday. Also this report includes some of the highest New gTLD pre-registration auctions at Go Daddy such as, tire.guru for $5,250 and street.photography for $2.840.
A lot of domains sales were not reported because the seller and/or buyer asked Afternic/Godaddy to keep the sale confidential. Also only sales above $1,000 are reported. This is a list of the reported domain names sales at Afternic and Go Daddy and their prices:

That is what they claim, but we have no way of knowing the truth.
Sure but they do have to report commission earnings to the IRS.
And actually most unreported sales are the sub-$1000 ones.

But still…
As long as these market places have auxiliary relationships with latent entities, and have conflict of interest galore, coupled with secrecy, be it NDA or whatever, none of their data is trustworthy in my book; not the sales reported, not the names reported, nothing; as a matter of fact, I consider all the market place weekly reporting as a tiny less than propaganda, that is not worth reprinting by domain bloggers.
Maybe you want to check with all sellers and buyers and confirm all this…
In statistics, an average is defined as the number that measures the central tendency of a given set of numbers. You can very some randomly, to achieve the same result. However, my quarrel with the market places is that they sell their names, which are 90% PS, and they own domain names, and their names achieve better results than the general domain industry; plus, you they have opening to do all kinds of stuff, and they are doing it. I will be happy if a trusted accountant such as Price Water House audited them all.
I am getting it!……Some people just won’t believe a New G sale regardless……….I got it! I get it!…………..I know understand that the “.com only” crowd set up the proponents of the New G’s by saying the “New G’s” would “pump” the system prior to the rollout……Now every sale is considered “pumping” or something similar…….This tactic comes from politics and not business……….

Just in a case one of your readers is pointing to New G skeptics, please assure them that the domain market shenanigans apply to all TLDs. These market places could care less about TLD, they are in it to get domainers, period.
