ICANN President and Chief Executive Officer Fadi Chehadé has arrived in Beijing for several days of meetings with leaders of China’s Internet and telecommunications community.
Chehadé will confer with several Chinese government agencies and representatives from the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), the Internet Society of China (ISC), the China Academy of Telecommunication Research (CATR) and other Internet community stakeholders.
“As evidenced by our opening of an Engagement Center in Beijing, ICANN is very determined to include Chinese stakeholders in our processes,” said Chehadé. “The number of Chinese citizens going online is increasing dramatically and collectively they have a voice that needs to be heard.”
Chehadé will be in Beijing through Thursday, 13 February.
