Sedo sells CornerstoneHomes.com for $150,000 USD

Sedo just announced today the sale of the domain name CornerstoneHomes.com for $150,000 USD. The domain CornerstoneHomes.com was registered in 1996.

Two construction companies with similar names, one from Florida and one from Washington state, were the seller and buyer. Probably the first company closed down and decided to sell the domain name. This was a smart move instead of what most companies do: let the domain name expire.

The seller was Cornerstone Home Builders, Inc.  from Florida. The last saved webpage at archive.org for CornerstoneHomes.com from December 31st 2013 says: “serving Hillsborough and Manatee County, including Tampa, Florida since 1985.”

The buyer, Cornerstone Homes NW, LLC from Washington state, has been using the domain name CornerstoneHomes.us for it’s website up until now. The company says it has been “Building in Snohomish & King County Since 1995”. They  bought the .us in 2003.

Congrats to both the seller and the buyer.

  1. That is an insane sale for a not so stellar domain. Most would have asked a couple grand for that name at the most.

    • Home/Homes domain names do pretty well.

      • I agree they do pretty well but names like this normally sell for around 10k not 150k. This has to be a misprint or something. I could maybe see a multi million dollar home builder buying this name but the company that bought it builds 250 thousand dollar homes. Doesn’t make sense.

  2. That’s really good price. Congrats to both parties specially the seller.
To be honest I wouldn’t have asked that much at all! What would you have asked Konstantinos for this domain?
