Registry and Registrar Pricing Problems With .Website, .Host and .Press

I had made a landrush pre-order for the domain video.press. After landrush had ended I checked to see if I got the domain only to see that my pre-order had disappeared from my account and that the domain was available to register. The landrush price that I had paid was $80 as the domain was not a premium one. Landrush prices were very low compared to other landrushes and also compared to the general availability pricing for .press.

I checked to see if the domain was available at Go Daddy and got this $69.99 price:

But I knew that something was wrong because I couldn’t order the domain at some other registrars.

So then I tried Dynadot only to get what I believe is the real price: $3,450 per year.

Enom and Hover both have prices below $100. I didn’t try buying video.press from any of these registrars because I am sure I will soon be getting a refund.

Radix had to postpone the launch of .website, .host and .press because of some communication issues with the registrars. Were these fixed or not?

So at this point I don’t know if Radix changed the price of video.press at the last minute or registrars were getting bad data and still do from the registry.

We really need to have consistent data by registries and registrars if we want New gTLDs to be reliable to end users and ultimately successful.

I reported all the pre registration problems I had with the .London priority program and the registrar mess.

Andrew at DomainNameWire.com reported many problems pre-ordering .website domains.

First day numbers were not that great for .Website, .Host and .Press and maybe these problems were a factor.
