One of my posts was copied but WordPress.com suspended the blog that stole it

A few days ago I got a pingback on one of my posts. Pingback is a method for bloggers to request notification when somebody links to one of their posts. Typically, web publishing software will automatically inform the relevant parties on behalf of the user, allowing for the possibility of automatically creating links to referring posts.

I went to check it out only to found that someone had made a copy and paste and posted the whole article on his/hers blog that was hosted on wordpress.com. The article was Where the shops have no domain name the copying was not too successful. Punctuation was missing etc. I made a comment and asked for my post to be removed but got no reply of course.

I am not sure what this was done because the other posts were all unrelated both to my post and to each other. And also I am not sure if it was the “blogger’s” intention for the  pingback to reach my website. If it wasn’t for the pingback maybe I would have never known what had happened but at the bottom of this copied post there was a link to my original post. Not sure why this was done either as this notified me.

Today I visited the blog to see if anything had happened only to find this message:

ukesurusofo.wordpress.com is no longer available.
This blog has been archived or suspended for a violation of our Terms of Service.

I guess somebody else that had also his/hers post copied made a complaint at WordPress.com and they were very fast to react and suspend the blog. I love WordPress, I use it almost exclusively for blogs or small websites and I will continue to do so.
